VIDEO: Real Time Comparison of HYMAX vs. MJ coupling

The above video shows an 8” PVC replacement pipe being connected with a HYMAX
on one end and a non-HYMAX MJ product on the other end. There are number of
factors why the HYMAX is faster and easier to install.

  1. Number of people to install the coupling

The HYMAX can easily be installed and tightened by one person. With an MJ, two people are needed
to effectively make the repair meaning higher installation costs.

  1. Top-Facing Bolts

The HYMAX features two top-facing bolts which means no under-digging is required for bolt tightening.
It’s also easier for installers to get into good position to leverage their strength during tightening. With
the MJ connection, the bolts are spread all around the product, making them difficult to reach and
challenging to tighten given the limited space.

  1. One-piece, stab fit design

The HYMAX is a ready-to-use coupling with a stab-fit design, even for larger sizes up to 60”.
Compared to MJ couplings, which can have multiple parts to assemble, the HYMAX is faster
and easier to install.

  1. And finally…Safety

The HYMAX’s one-piece stab fit design has fewer bolts to tighten, which
means less time in the ditch, a key factor in minimizing trench accidents –
to say nothing about getting work done faster and sending workers home.

As the video demonstrates, HYMAX couplings are easier, faster and safer to
install with fewer workers to get the job done.
